I have a 2000 GS300 with 105K miles. I had the timing belt and waterpump replaced last year. I get the coolant replaced every 30K miles. I was wondering if I should get the thermostat replaced when I get the coolant replaced in the next few weeks? When should the thermostat be replaced? Also, the place I have the work done wants $150to have the thermostat replaced, is that a fair price? Thanks much for any input anyone can provide.

If your temp gauge moves up to the normal in reasonable time (10~15mins) and remains rock steady in stop and go traffic, dont change it. [minor fluctuation is ok].

If you are looking at preventive maintenance-go for it as you do have 100K+ miles. Why wait till it goes bad for something so inexpensive and easy to change yet can cause you some grief if it decides to go south while you are in the boonies? Just change it and it will no longer be on your mind.
