Unhappy Door Handle Repair

Well it was bound to happen. Left my GS430 at the airport and when I returned it had been broken into. I now have a pulled out door handle (driver's side.) It operates perfectly just looks bad (particularly with packing tape to keep the water out.)

I just purchased a door handle and trim and want to install it myself. I am pretty handy, in general, but need hints on door panel removal to get at the mechanisms. Anyone out there have any experience or info?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I did this. I replaced the front and rear door speakers and because I had issues with the driver side, I had to unscrew the driver door many times. As a result, I broke the Lock piece. I installed a new lock piece and then broke a piece of the door handle....it sucked.

I am going to tell you it is a pain in the ***. If you look at your door it has a metal piece (from the door mechanism) that goes into a clear plastic piece. That plastic piece is then slid into the back of the door handle and it is impossible to get out without breaking the door handle. Once you play around with it, you will see what I mean. I broke that and I was screwed. I had buy a new one. I will look to see if I can find anything on it. But BE CAREFUL. I love Lexus, but they have a few plastic pieces in the door that I was not happy about.
