My father suggested using a blow dryer to melt the glue to pull the headlights apart. I didn't think that would work but what do you think?

blowdryer would only heat up one part of the headlight while other parts of the glue will still be hot unheated. putting it in the oven will be much easier. You dont want to concentrate heat on one area otherwise you can melt the housing. Oven provides even distribution of heat

Very nice write-up. I prefer to use a heatgun. I can pull a headlight apart in about 10 mins and I feel its easier to control the heat so the stock adhesive doesn't get everywhere when pulling it apart.
