There are 2 screws on the outside of the lens that you take off. Then the entire lens comes out. The bulb socket then is turned 1/4 to remove.

what year is your car ? and this might help you a little bit but ill try to get a camera and do a diy thing on this forum when my camera is repaired.. but as into the tail lights i have the 2001 and @ first you have to open the trunk, where your tail lights are located there should be two plastic buttons that have to be removed by a screw driver and then theres two 1.5 inch button (black has blubs picture on them) on top and bottom of the carpet panel where the "behind the tail light inner trunk" then you shuold see two nuts i belive its a 12 or 14 mm i aint sure but yeah there's two nuts just loosen it and take the two nuts out but gotta becareful because your working in a small hole here and the nuts will fall down and its sucks tryna look for it...other way is you have to remove the two plastic pins on the side of the bottom trunk there should be a plastic shield with the fork driver then take out the shield then bent the plastic carpet upholstry then you can see how to take it out.. sorry if its confusing..

I tried to remove the two screws pictured above, but it seems like something still holding the tail light on.

yeah the two remaining bolts behind the tail lights you have to remove the carpet side walls buttons with the fork driver and you'll see two bolts with nuts on them and remove them hidden behind the cover carpet

actually u dont even need to remove the carpet, the carpeting should have holes that lead you to the screws. i just switched out my taillights last week just two screws in the front and one on the back per taillight, only thing you need to get are reverse lights, can get that @ kragen.
