If you have been dealing with cars for a while you should know that salvage anything has very little resale value. First off flood damage thats a no no. If it was as easy as paying 4000 and having a sweet deal it would be good, but I don't for see that happening. Mold is very bad bacteria and there is some types of mold you do not want to come in contact with, so your partners buy could be life threatening and seeing where your from you can get ridd of the car easy in New York.........

What do you mean get rid of the car easy in New York. I am asking the question about keys. I thank you for your opionion on his purchase although I share it with you, that getting inot flood damage vehicles brings little gain. That is his decision. I cannot influence nor make any changes to this situation nor does he want to hear it.

i guess im a hypocrite... i think we have all beat this decision to death and now i feel bad for posting my opinion (even tho i stand by it). bottom line... the purchased was made and its a done deal... it is what it is. the purpose of his post was to try and figure out a way to get this car running w/o any keys. lets focus on that and help him out if we can

after all he got the car for cheap.
You forget, Trina flooded the city. That car was under water. Tell your buddy to beware of electrical problems in the near future. Andrew did that in Florida if you remember, and the cars from Andrew aren't allowed to be sold in Florida. Too many people had problems.

Default my .02...

Spyder, www.streetkeys.com you can get a reflashed ecu, as many keys cut as you want any style of key you want. You need to fax them DL, proof of ownership of the car. Salvage paperwork is fine as long as it shows the new owner is requesting the new keys and ecu. You send them the old ecu, they send you a new one reflashed ready to put in with programming instructions. I had the exact same situation with a similar car - 02 GS300, it is now on the road and when I'm driving it guess what, no one has any idea the car was salvage and what was wrong with it. I'll mod it and drive it until it dies and get a new one. Resale value when buying a salvage car is irrelevant, you should buy it to drive it until it dies and try and get your $$ worth out of the car. 4K and some new keys, I could reconcile that if it wasn't in too bad of shape. Hope that helps...D
