A must have here in Alaska. I run studded Hankooks on my stock 16's and I'm very pleased with how they perform.

What does "studded" mean? I'm still waiting for snow to fall to decide if I need snow tires.

Seriously? Little steel studs "shot" into the tire for traction. Lucky you, no snow yet. If it does come and stick around for while, the GS needs a great snow tire, with or without the studs to get around safely.

i run michelin pilot alpinII's on 95 SC400 mags on my GS430...

we got 12" of snow over the past weekend, and now it's -9c outside... and it's all packed snow and ice everywhere now... which is when studded tires come in handy

studded winter tires are winter tires that have studs screwed, or sometimes casted into them to bite into ice...

studded tires are great on hard packed snow and ice, but make little to no difference on soft powder... and are not so good wet or dry...

i was also considering the nokian hakkapaliita4 (studded) or the hakk RSi...

I have some skinny 215 series Kuhmo all season tires on the stock 16" wheels which work great. With the traction control and SNOW mode its more than enough not to lose it.

Last winter I drove my C5 with winter tires all winter and the car did great.

Is it ok to put 215/60r16 on a gs 400, and does it affect the performance of does the car ride just as good.
