I just got quoted $250 ($190 install, 60 to remove old) for all around, any % I chose. And that includes removing the old and installing LLumar with lifetime, except on the rear, he has to order in ceramic so as to not jack up the navigation. Ive had 3 cars done there and they turn out pretty good. I think Im going to go 20% rears and 50% front. just had a accord done two weeks ago and looks pretty good, without catching the cops attention.
you should REALLY just do both the same percentage 20% all around will be fine...even on the back... IMO cars look so ghetto when the fronts are a different shade then the rear, even if its done prof. and on purpose, it just looks cheap.. 50%'s illegal too just do it all the way with the 20% itll look more classy trust me..... as far as the nav goes... i have eclipse nav/(avn2454) and the tint has never had any effect on the GPS, its always accurate in the WORST case it will be off 15/20 ft but that is more than expected wth any nav... i really dont think the back window being tinted with or without ceramic tint is going to make a difference at all, it probably just costs more.

where you stay in TX? if you're around Dallas, i know i guy that does tinting for a Chevy Dealer that would do it on the side for like $75!! he provided the tint and even took off the 3rd brake light for that clearer look. he did mine 20% all the way around within 1.5hr. I drop the car off, went to lunch and he was done by the time i got back. tint job came out flawless.

I got 2 layers of tint. 20% lumar (slight mirror effect) all around and 5% limo on top. It has a lifetime warranty and I paid $400. Not one air buble or scratch. I guess I could of found it for cheaper, but u get what u pay for. The guy even took out the back seats and rear deck This was so he could get all the way in the corners, without lint or hair sticking to the tint.

Yeah, sounds like they really want to stick it to you. Since Im in Chicago, shops that do tints are a dime-a-dozen so I can get a real nice job done for $200 all around. Of course you have those that charge 100 and crazy prices like $400 but $150-250 sounds good. Good luck with your price hunting.
Also dont forget to negotiate a little. Let them know you are ready to do it then and there. Tell them that you got a quote from "some other shop" at $50-75 cheaper but its farther and youre ready that day. Sell them! When they see you walking out the door they'll be like "hey wait a minute!".

got mine done 4 yrs ago with 5% all the way around, and it costed me 150.00 my personal opinion is check to see what type of film that they are using i have lumnar i have no problems the average tint on our cars cost anywhere from 150 to 250 they may be charging u that much because the old tint is a bio%^ to remove trust me, and it is very time consuming to do the rear window where ur antena, and rear window defrost is most people steam the rear to get it off it should only be a 50-60 dollar job to remove the old film off especially if ur getting new film from them my opinion shop around, & remember u get what u pay for.

What? Can't get rear window tinted 'cuz of GPS/navi system?
Hey guys,
Do any of you know about this? The best tint guy in my area uses a tint that has some metallic properties. He said on the older mid ninties GS's with navigation, his tint would block the signal making the navi useless.
He said he didn't think he could use his tint films on my back window at all, unless there was a visible receptor he could cut around. Is there a receptor built into the window that he could cut around? While this sounds crazy he said some early navigation systems had a 2 or 3 inch receptor built into the glass that looked like the defroster lines. He even said some older Lexus models had this...since it was so far at the bottom of the window, and small, he could cut around it if a customer insisted and it would be pretty unnoticeable. So is there a visible receptor built into the back window of an ole '02 GS430 with Navigation?
Also, he said some tint guys are still using die films (which aren't as good). He didnt' have any recommendations. Does anyone know of a good tint shop locally?
I'm in San Mateo, Ca.
