Default Anyone have a Viper 791xv installed on the GS?

Does anyone know if you are able to have it programmed to turn the rear defrost on? It has that option in the book, but I am not sure if the car will do that seeing as it has to be manually turned on whenever I get in the car. I always leave the front on so when I warm up my car, it would be nice to have the back going to so its nice and clear for me to see!

Thanks,
Jim

when you leave the car the night before, you leave the settings on to the way you like it... prob is, when the car goes off and then back on... the rear defrost isn't on... so i don't think there's a way...

I have one in my 1st gen. I never thought to hook that up as a feature though.

You have to have the place that installed the Viper hook it up so that you can use one of the auxillary functions to turn on the rear defrost.

I used to be an installer so I did with a buddy that owns a shop.

I understand that, but is it able to work with a 2nd Gen GS because you have to manually press the button for it to go on. Like if I leave it on when I get out at night, like I do with the front defrost, it will not be on in the morning.

What he is saying is that it wont work automatically. You will have to autostart and then push and additional aux button on the remote.

No, I don't think you do understand. What he's saying is that you need to go to the place that hooked up your alarm, and tell them to wire in your rear defrost. It's an optional feature. After they install it, you would autostart your car, then push the AUX button to turn on the defroster.

He's saying that when he has defrost running at night. Turns off his car. Remote starts his car, it doesn't stay on from the night before.

Well if you have a autostart and/or alarm in there, then technically your wiring has already been "messed with". Depending on the installer/shop, its perfectly fine to do stuff like that. But beware that there a lot of hackers out there that shouldn't be doing electrical mods.
