I have a 99 GS 300 with the premium sound. Not the Nakamichi, but the premium sound package (pretty sure Pioneer makes them?). Anyways, I want to run 1 12in sub and an amp, but I love the factory HU and cd changer so I don't want to get rid of it. I have the sub and amp picked out, and I was talking to my friend and he said something about the factory HU probably won't have all the outputs I need to hook the amp and sub up. Truth? Do I need to get a new HU in order to enjoy a bit more bass?

My friend was running an amp and sub off his stock head unit on a IS300 and it sounded good. I think they make units plugs inline with your car harness and factory head unit.

you will just need a rca converter to tap into the factory amp...

Yup I did that. I used an LLC and connected that to the stock sub out wires. Then connected the amp to the LLC, and the rest is history. Sounds good.

Would I be able to add an amp and sub using the above mentioned hook up/parts and still run the sock amp and sub at the same time.
I just want more bass to the GS and I have an extra Fosgate amp and MTX sub.

BTW I have the Nac system.

Yea you should still be able to run the stock amp. I took out my stock sub, added a 1000W RF amp and an Alchamy free air sub. Much better than stock, and I am no where close to full power on the amp.

I don't want to use the stock amp OR sub. I plan on getting a 12in Memphis Mojo dual 2 ohm sub, and the Hifonics BCi 1206D amplifier.
