Default No Keyhole on my car. HELP!!

Recently purchased my 2001 GS300. Just noticed that there is no keyhole on my doors. The driver's door looks like it has been filled in or a cover placed on over the key-hole. It is a sleek look, but I don't like not having access to a keyhole. Can this be taken off? I would like to be able to use the keyhole in case the remote key does not work. Help

1. Welcome to Clublexus
2. What can be taken off? The keyholes are already "off"
3. Once you have the $$$$$ you can get anything fixed. However if they filled in the keyhole with something permanent, you will have to get new key holes.

It may be a door plug. See link w/picture click on tab that says "Products" and scroll down link. I was actually going to get this for my car. If this is what you have you can wedge it out with a thin screwdriver or carefully with a knife. Good luck.

Lucky that the range on the remote is extremely short on GS. The RX has much longer range and very frequently it picks up stray signals from other RX keys and shuts down the remote. One has to use the key to unlock.

cylinders are in the door handles... which means, you need to replace your door handles... and if your lock cylinder is not there anymore, you'll have to replace those too...

When replacing the door lock cylinder can I have it rekeyed to match my other locks? Will the rekeyed cylinder still work with my current remote entry?

The cylender tumblers (not sure if it is the right term), only influence the ability of the cylender to turn wiht the right key. The remote actuator is altogther a different relay.

So I would suggest to have the cylender match the key which works on other locks (door, ignition, trunk, trunk release, glove). I would still try to give master key to match instead of valet key.

Are you talking about "shaved door handles"? Do you still have the handles and it's just the keyhole filled in, or is the entire handle missing? I ask this, because most mods to have that clean, smooth look will remove or fill in the door handles, depending on the model car. Don't see the point in filling in the key hole and keeping the handle. If you have shaved door handles, then they usually install a emergency switch somewhere on the exterior of the car in case you lose power to the door poppers. You just have to ask the previous owner if 1) they were installed, and 2) if so, where the switch is.
