Lightbulb Illuminating Front Grill...

I saw a Benz the other day that seemed to have its front grill illumunated from the inside with some sort of colored bulb.

The bulb matched the color of his car color, and actually looked pretty sweet as it really made the Benz symbol on his car look pretty dramatic.

I didn't ask how he did it because, you know, I don't really @#$% with Benz drivers like that...

I might be interested in ligthing up the inside of my chrome grill just a clear white color, or maybe yellow (I'm still a little undecided...) I have a silver GS3 with yellow fog lights...

Is there some kit, or link that any body out there knows about. Have any cost info...???

Is it just as simple as something like a Christmas bulb with long enough lead wires that they can be connected to your existing light feeds. Then mounting the bulb on the underside of the 'L' emblem on the front of the GS...

Could I do it myself with just a few items from my local Radio Shack or something of that nature...I think I actually might try...

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly welcomed...

I was thinking of doing something similar I also saw on a Benz... you know those side markers that light up (not the mirror, down on the front quarter panel)...

Don't want to put too much into it, and I've already got an AC power converter I bought for my laptop to put to use. I think I'm going to drill a small hole in the quarter panel (or maybe I'll just get black extension cord and snake it out the hood) and hook up one of those little GE night lights to the side of my ride.

I definitely am going to spring for the one with the light sensor that cuts on and off automatically at night, cuz I dam sure am not going to be jumping in and out to switch that bad boy on and off all the time.

WOW! I've never seen that, but would love to see it, as I think that would look pretty cool, as long as it is done nice (not ricey). If you get any cost info, please forward to the group.

Illumination is easy but don't overdo it. It should be hardly seen so that your eyes woun't concentrate on it much. If the light under teh grill is bright, then it looks ricey. There should be just a hint of ambient light.

I'd have to see it to believe it won't look overdone.

It just sounds a little over the top.

If you go for it, please post pics...maybe it'll start a trend...

I put a blue neon in the center mesh of my front bumper, combining the bluelight wedge bulbs, it looks impeccable! = )
the Technique of neon light is that you shouldn't have seen the bar at all, but just the hint of the blue light that's glowing under the mesh.

I am telling you, it looks hip!

try it. it is so cheap anywayz~?

You might think its all rice untill you actually see what me and Wei are talking about. Although neons are cheasy, I will use some for sound competitions.

If at all possible, could you post a pic at night of your design?

Why not just install the sidemarkers? Wire them into your Turn Signal/Parking Lights so that they turn on when your parking lights are on and blink when your put your Turn Signal on.. The whole purpose of putting sidemarkers in, is to alert cars, pedestrians, animals, midgets etc. That you are turning..

There are plenty of GS's here that have them and they look basically factory.

LS,

I was just joking about that mod and install...

Think I'd really run an extension cord out of the hood to a night light attached to the side of my car?

DOH!
I just now saw what that was you put on the side of your car.
That was pretty good, you got me.
I'll have to run you down in my civic if you plan on doing anything like that.
