Default TRD See Through Grille Fix

Yup, I found the best way to fix the huge holes in the TRD grille. You guys all know the screens that we all have on our windows and doors. Well, I had some of that screen laying around. I cut out a piece that was larger than the grille. Pulled all the clips off the grille, laid that screen behind the TRD mesh, and pushed the bug screen so that the little plastic rods went through it. Make sure it is tight. Put the clips back on, cut out the extra, and put the grille back on. Now you cannot see through the grill at all. But once you open the hood, you can see right through it.

I have pictures, but I need someone to help me post them up here. I tried before with my engine mounts, and can't seem to get them uploaded. So if someone gives me their email addy, I will send you the pics to post up.

I hope this helps someone. I think this looks the best.

I think I finally got it. My image was too big.

I finally did it. Image was too big. Ok what you see here, you see the same from every angle. Unless you get really close up in there with some light, you won't see through the grille at all, especially from far away.

Thanks, I am also getting the carbon-fiber look painted black in the summer. I mean it is nice, but also a little bit rice.

for the grille!

What Lexus emblem is that you have on the front?

Is it the GS400 rear deck emblem and it's just stuck on? Or is it from another model? Looks sweet!

Let us know how you attached it and which model it's from. Thanks,

Scott

Looks real good. Will this effect cooling in the summer though?

To answer your questions.

The emblem is a rear 430 emblem. I attached it basically the same way you would attach it to the trunk. It has those little stick things on the back side, and double sided tape. So I just pushed it through the mesh, but a washer on each of the 3 stick thingies in the back, and tacked them in place with hot glue. That thing will not come off guaranteed.

I don't think it will affect cooling. Remember this is just the screen from the windows, so air still passes through it quite well. Plus it has been very hot here before the recent cold. No problems at all. I even watched for something to happen.

Thanks for the compliments.

What year was the 430 emblem from? Was it from a second gen or a third gen?

Thanks,

Scott

Hey, is that TRD grille you have a real(genuine) one? If it is, I thought they were made of real carbon fiber...or is it just that vinyl printed kinda CF pattern? I was going to get the TRD because I thought it was real CF, but if it's not then I think I might get something else.
