Default Left Light On - Dead Battery

Daughter left door slightly ajar which left light on and killed the battery. This is the 3rd time over the years. Is there a C-best setting to turn off the interior lights after 5 minutes? Heck, even my f-150 turns off the lights after 5 minutes even if a door is open.

If the battery is good and strong, it can survive 8 hrs of door light on. As it ages, it may not have enough juice to start the car next day. A good charge will revive the battery unless it was at the edge ... (silver lining is that the car and you are at your home)

It would be good to know if a c-best setting is available though.

Salim- I agree, seems like 8 hours (well, more like 10) would not be enough to kill it, especially since I have an Optima. I wonder if my alternator is finally giving up.

I too have optima.

A while back some one wrote about Optimas (drycell technology) need long charging time. Daily driving may not be enough, so I do 2 things.

1. Every night as I turn the garage door openers off (I have a pad outside and I prefer killing 110v to the lift motor), I ensure all the cab lights are off.

2. Every 4 to 6 weeks I charge the optima overnight.
