Well, as soon as the snow and ice are gone, we will find out if the dealer can do it.

i cant imagine them charging for something this trivial, especially if the car is under warranty

I have to agree with you, but unexpected charges can accumulate at the stealership very quickly.

While going through a toll plaza with my EZ-PASS doing less than 15MPH, the lights at the toll plaza are bright enough to brighten the gauges in the car. Then after a minute or so, it goes back to the dreary looking white after I leave.

Didn’t know everyone else was also bothered by this.

LOL, once the dealer told me they would adjust the C-best personalized settings for free, but an hour later, they printed a bill for $38bucs, because it "took a while" to do. Then the Service advisor was trying to convince me that it was a 45min process to go through all the settings and adjust them all over again. In addition, the a tech couldn’t just go in there, and just change one thing, he had to readjust all the settings over again.

All my friend wanted to do is change the remote so it would unlock all doors from the first click.

That was a fun talk... but it was on my friends '01 LS430

Hopefully they don't charge, but you know how lexus is, they charge for even examining a car! $65 per hour!

Well I stopped by the dealer with the list of all the settings I wanted changed and they told me they charged a flat rate of $50 to change any personal settings, and to get my list all set right would take a couple hours. Not too upset about it, its a lot better than the audi stealership was.....

So I take it that they can disable it?

This is just my opinion, but I think $50 is absolutely ridiculous. My dealership did it for free in a matter of 5 minutes. The tech came outside with the handheld computer, plugged it in under the dash, and we went through each setting (for 98-00), there are no more than 10 or so settings. To tell you that it's going to take a couple of hours is really misleading. I'm not saying that they're not entitled to charge you, but assuming you will be going there for oil changes and other maintenance, this should be a perk to you. It's not like you're going to be in there every week changing the settings. You do it once, and then you're done. Just my .02.
