Thanks for the diagram, and info... I cant really read it due to resolution, however, are you saying that we cannot disable the feed from the Light sensor to the instrument cluster?? Meaning cut the instrument cluster from the light sensors loop all together?

This might be a stupid idea BUT...what about installling those stupid lights that people use for their windshield wipers? You know what I'm talking about? You could wire it to turn on with your headlights or even with a switch. You could then just put some black tape over the light right on the sensor so you wouldn't be blinded by the stupid LED light on your dash. That way if you turn it on it will tell the sensor that its day time and become brighter. I know this will most likely work because I was experimenting with shinning a tiny flashlight on the sensor and the whole dash got nice and bright right away.

It should be a really simple install and you can probably even get those at your local automotive store for less than $10.00.

These things...

So where exactly are these wires? I would like to know before I start taking parts apart to find the waring harnesses.

I did post a reply to this query on a different thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...=89632&page=18

In a nutshell the ECU converts the analogue signal from the light sensor to digital and includes this data in the cars data system.

The navigation, a/c, DLR and the instrument cluster are all connected to this data stream to share information including the solar sensor. Have you ever noticed the delay of around 2 seconds when you enter a tunnel for the instrument panel to dim?

(I even posted there the 'stick a bulb to the sensor' idea before Metlupass2 mentioned it)

If you are desperate to turn off the auto-dim and without modifying the ECU you will have to modify the wiring and accept the side effects.

Ok, so a question, if I do not have OEM NAV and never use the AUTO light setting. So the only thing that is connected to those sensors is my guages if I just unplug them with that solve my problem?

Maybe not as easy as that,

If you fully disconnect 3-wires of the solar sensor you have a 50/50 chance that your clock will always stay low or stay high.

This depends on how the sensor is wired up to the ECU, the fact that there is 3 wires to this sensor suggests that the sensor is wired as a 'potential divider'. If this is so, 1st of these wires is +12V, second is GND and the 3rd is the signal return. (Manual does not state which is which).
If you disconnect the +12v, the return signal will always be 0V, if you disconnect the GND the return signal is always low (no 12V to pull it up). If you disconnect the signal wire the ECU will only see 0V.

The best solution is to plug out cable connector 1D as show in previous pic and with trial and error unclip one wire at a time from the connector as you plug it back in (You will need a safety pin or similar to unclip the pin from inside the connector if you do not want to cut your loom).

Hopefully you will strike gold on your first attempt!

So, where exactly is cable connector 1d located in my car?

did anyone find a solution for this? I just got a new job by Bronx, I have to stuck in traffic in Cross Bronx in NY for half hour and go under 20 bridges. The guage just on and off and on and off........ on both Guage and Nav.

Can we disable a jumper/fuse to inactivate this dimmer?
