How much is too much mileage?
How much mileage is too much to consider purchasing? If you were going to buy a GS 400/430 with high mileage, what would be your cutoff? I ask because I really want another 400 or 430. I've come across alot of 400/430's with high mileage (130K and up) at great prices. Some even as low as $10,000! Is it really worth buying a GS with high mileage?

i got my gs300 last year at 93700miles. it is now at 105780miles and feels like its brand new.
the main thing is to make sure you get a car that has been maintained and serviced properly over the course of its existence.
with the lexus, mileage is almost a minor factor to consider.
good luck

I know that with a Lexus mileage is not really a concern, but it is the other things that I am worried about like failing equipment. I have 112K on my car now, but my car was taken care of by the past ower though. Dealers will tell you anything to make a sale!

^^ See that is what I'm talking about. It's those little things that start to eat away at your savings account!
By the way, ball joints, engine mounts and steering rack bushings are not little things! Those are all costly repairs.

ball joints and steering rack bushings are under $200 total and its a DIY
now engine mount on the other hand...$200 for parts and 4 hours of labor ($200 at the shop i took it to).
Not to mention the the imfamous starter problem. Mine died out two weeks after I bought the car. I wasn't too happy with the $600 bill (starter plus labor), but now my car seems to be happy. lol.

any car with almost 100k is going to need those type of repairs regardless. fact is if you want low maintainence go with a newer model or very low mileage, if money is an issue DIY repairs or find a cheaper car.
