Does the GS400 always have HID and yellow fogs?

CL should have a policy of banning anyone that buys HID conversion kits while using stock housing
lol jk
but yeah anyone that does that is actually endangering everyone else on the road

Base GS, in '98 did not have Hid and had clear (white) fog lamps.
If you opted for any premium upgrade, you would get amber fogs.
fog lamps have a wider spread and are angled low, to prevent reflection from fog into driver's eyes. Best pentration/human_eye_responce was determied to be amber light (after eliminating the reserved colors like red, green and blue)

Henry corrected me right, fyi, 99-00 GS 400s did not have HIDs standard but ANY package included them. I would say 99% of GS 400s 99-00 had a package.

Incorrect You could have the premium package (sunroof/cd)with the 1998 GS and NOT have HIDs and the heated seats. My 98 was like that and the brochure states it.

and yes, i believe the hid was a complete separate options and wasn't linked to the premium package

Back then at the time of purchase '98 GS4, other than leather, Nak, moon roof, (no-heated seats), I wanted 17" wheels. For some odd reason I did not want HIDs Based on maximizing profit, the allocation dealer got had HID. [This option I quickly appreciated on my first night time drive]. When I noticed the yellow fog lamps, I asked the sales person who lead me to beleive that the yellow fogs come with a premium package.
If my understanding is correct then, yellow fog lights would be available with halogen lamps, as long as a premium package was purchased.

don't think all hid gs has yellow fogs, mabe the other way around.. all yellow fogs have hid. I have seen many gs with hid with no yellow fogs. question for u guys when I bought my gs there were ones with hid sitting next to one without hid.. what is the big difference in headlamps between he two. they looked the same to me..both had that little metal piece n front of the bulb. Also the auto level feature I'm assuming its not on the non hid correct?

The issue is yellow fogs with premium package and not HID with premium package.

I have the 98 and 99 brochures. 98 Premium pack was leather/cd no HIDs. This was the entry level package in the 98 GS 400.

If you can find A GS4 with HID its worth it. The light output is so great i wouldn't have any other light. If you get the regular Halogen lights you may spend more money buying HID's to swap out. Check the lights before you buy..
I didn't know i had HID untill after i bought my GS.. i got lucky i guess..
GL bro..
