Default 1999 GS300 - Nav Input Problems

Unable to input some options when programming Nav system. Screens freeze and touching screen to activate menu items is not productive. If I turn ignition key off and restart I can sometimes get farther into the menu. For example, if I want to enter a specific destination, I can sometimes get into the process of entering an address, but then the screen freezes. What's going on? Would disconnecting the negative side of the battery for a few minutes reset the system?

Are you trying to input info while you are driving or at a standstill?

Driving. Is that a problem? Never considered having to enter everything while stopped.

The nav in my 99 GS will only allow me to input destinations while the car is at a stop. Once the car starts moving the functions will "ghost out".

It is a safety feature in the nav system. No user input while driving. Search the forums for the thread with the override sequence.

override sequence-

go to menu, system options
touch the top left, bottom left, top left, bottom left, and bottom right.

blue screen pops up and you select the top right option - override something..

select back and you're good to go

this does not work on the 98-00 hard drive based navi, there is no over ride that anyone knows of to input directions while moving. You have to input them while you're at a stop.
