Question Switching from 235 to 245 tire width

Has anyone noticed any free play in the steering wheel after switching to 245/45/17's instead of 235?

Im thinking about upgrading when I change tires soon, and would appreciate any input.

Any tire brand/model recommendations are exceedingly welcomed.

EDIT: This is with regards to stock 17inchers.

I have 245/40/18 and the steering is great especially after I put on the Daizen Steering Rack Mount. . . What are you looking for out of the tires? Life? Performance? Comfort? Price? Specific Brands?

Smile 245 width

My wife and I both run Michelin Pilot Sport All Season
245-45-17. They grip really well on curves, they work really good
in the rain, which living near Seattle Wa we have quite a bit of.
We absolutely love them and won't even consider any other tires. I've read to many stories about other tires with excessive road noise.

I read something on here a long time ago from Tire Rack that the
235 width was a little quicker off the line than the 245's but I have no first hand knowledge of that

Having said all of that I have to say I would not claim they are winter tires.
They don't work all that great on snow or ice and when that happens we switch to our 16 inch wheels which have the Blizzacks on them. Those tires are incredible on ice and make the GS a safe car in poor conditions.

I am running 245/20/18 all around, but I wish I got wider rear wheels to install wider tires to make it look nicer. 245 still looks narrow on GSs.
