well- i'm pretty sure if the guy is going for something THAT blue - it's just for looks. from the standard 4300k to the 6k the loss of visible light is roughly 12%. from 4300 to 8k, the loss of visible light is roughly 20%. anything further up the kelvin scale at 10,12,14k... i don't even know how much you lose but again - by that time, it's for looks.

wow, i always wonder why people want such high HID rating..
The higher you go doesnt mean more visibility. Those yellow halogen fogs probabaly lights up the road better than the 14k hid.

Well even with the 8k, you're getting twice as much visible light output than halogens. At 14k? Who knows... Whatever the case, it's probably brighter than halogens but if you're going to spend a couple hundred dollars on increasing the light output of your car, why go with anything other than 4300k?
If it's for shows - sure - go with whatever color you want but for everyday driving... nah.
Here are some "show colors" I threw in for fun the other day...
Obviously pink and purple... chicks loved the pink ones when I showed them off at a meet last weekend.
12k and pink...

I had halogens and then got the 12k conversion kit and they light up the road much much better, They overpowered my yellows factory fogs that i had to throw in the 3K golden yellow Hid kit in behind them. But yes i was not going for visiblilty i was going all out on looks.

Keep in mind guys, your visibility is not determined by the raw lumen output. It also relys quite a bit on the CRI(color rendering index). It's no use if the light is brighter than halogen, but you can't determine if you're heading towards a patch of grass or going off the road. With some of those highly colored HID kits, it's very dangerous to drive on at night! Try to imagine driving around at NIGHT and looking at everything in monochrome(black and white...or blue and white in this case)! Everyone be safe and try to keep the highly colored bulbs as a show only set and swap out only at car shows while using 4300k or 6000k on the street
