Default Did you sell your stock parts after upgrading?

I'm in a predicament here. I don't know if I should sell my stock parts of not. I upgraded both my sways to TRD, suspension to Tein Flex, new rims, and front brakes to TT setup. All my stock parts have about 10-12K miles of use or less on them. I'm sure I can fetch a pretty good amount for them being so new, but I don't know if I should sell them or not. Only reason I'm hesitant is because if something breaks I can swap it back to stock. Kinda like a spare set, but then again...how often is this stuff going to break?

I sold my OEM tails to someone after I got my 4 piece LED tails because the taillights aren't a necessity to be able to drive the car around. If it goes out, I can order another set and still drive around while waiting for it to come in. On the other hand, if the suspension or brake goes out...the car is grounded until the new part arrives.

What did you guys do with your OEM parts after upgrading?

Dunno about you.. but I keep everything.. when its time to sell the car or something happens, stock parts sometimes are hard to get.. specially in the worst times.

Hey Jeff,

Personally, I like to KEEP all my stock parts. In case I find another 2nd gen GS that I like better, I can take all my mods off and then sell my car as stock. The general population out there would prefer a "stock" GS as opposed to a modded one. Us fanatics here at CL are quite different. Plus, I like to see the transformation to my car as opposed to buying one modded already.

So, personally, I'd rather keep the stock parts. FWIW.

Your car is coming along nicely!

Well, speaking from experience as I just parted out my car basically back to stock - I would keep all stock parts. Unless of course you are really hurting for money. Thankfully I got lucky as 90% of the parts I sold were to Sockfocks who is a local CL member, so swapping out was minimal.

I had told myself I would never sell my GS - but circumstance dictated this was no longer an option.

Hold on to them,
Jonny

I threw away my old shocks, but kept my stock springs.
I kept my OEM sway bars and exhaust too. Stuff like the taillights and projector retrofit are not vital to me since they can be sold on my car.

Some people don't have the space or don't want to deal with the hassle of keeping stuff around - for them selling is best. I've got room to store my OEM parts so I keep them around in case I need to go back to stock.

The other thing to consider is the labor to put back the stock components if you don't do your own wrenching.

LOL. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I still have all the stock parts taking up space.

I didn't keep my mufflers when I installed the RMM but I should have I could have probably gotten a few bucks for them. I've kept everything else though. But the way I see I'm probably not going to get rid of this car, I've already invested too much time and money, besides this is the car I've always wanted.

Belive me, it'll be good to have spare parts when you need it.
I was forced few times to swap parts for couple of days/weeks.
Keep'em

I keep all my OEM parts. In fact, if I have to modify an OEM part (Like the center console, or something) I buy a spare part to do the modification on. I want to be able to return the car to 100% or as near to it as possible if/when I need to. On every single car forum I'm on I see posts of people wanting to buy stock parts when they are selling their car. Often it can take you a long time to collect used OEM parts, or it will cost you a lot of money to buy new OEM parts. Either way, if you keep the stock parts you wont have to go through that if you need/want to return your car to stock when you sell it, or for any other reason.
