Purple/blue Hids & Piaa Super Plasma
I noticed that some of you have the PIAA Super Plasma.
I am considering getting an aftermarket hid kit (w/Philips Ballasts) and would ideally like it to look like the Audi HIDS (purple color - really cool).
Does anyone know a good / cheap kit to buy that will work on my '99 GS 300?
Also since I'm trying to save money I was wondering if I good just buy the PIAA Super Plasma and get the same benefits or is there a big difference?
Do you recommend the PIAA and are they just about as bright as HIDs?
Do they give off a purple or blue color like the Audi's and BMW's do with their HIDs?
How much are the PIAA Super Plasma?
Are these the best bulbs you can getr or are there brighter more powerful bulbs out there?
Ted

HID
Nothing, and I do mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will give you as good and as broad a lighting spectrum as true HID.
And be careful out there, some vendors are selling incandesent bulbs with a "ballast" that simply raises the bulb voltage above the battery voltage and while that does give you a hotter and thus whiter light the bulb life will be significantly reduced.

Globe, if I only want to replace the low beam bulb, which one will be THE closest to HID look without running too hot? My fear is burning the housing or not getting a long bulb life....

Tiny, so long as you don't go past the actual Wattage rating of the stock bulb, you'll be fine..just don't run higher wattage bulbs...that's what burns out housing and wires...
With HID kits in the $400-$500 range, it might be better just to get HID's...

PIAA only makes the super white bulbs in the 9006. But they are just coming out with the NEW Xtreme 9006. It's the brightest 9006 bulb they make. They are hard to come by because they just came out in limited quantities. But because PIAA is in Portland and I have some contacts I can get some for CL guys. I'm going to pick mine up tomorrow.

in the PIAA catiloge it list the Xtreme in Wedge size 168, and interior lights, and other sizes other then 9006. But the 9006 is now availible in the Xtreme white. I can get you any of the PIAA products at a discount just let me know what you want. I'll look up the price on the 9006's and wedges. But I am going to pick them up tomorrow when the second batch is released so if anyone wants a set NOW, get ahold of me tonight.

If its too late its cool I'll just get them off the site. If anyone else wants to check the site out its at http://www.autobulbdepot.com/
