Default AM i asking to litle or to much

Im selling my 2000 gs400 and im trying to figure out what to ask for it. I looked on autotrader and the average price is something like 39,000 which I would love to sell it for. However can anyone shed any light on what they paid for their used GS series cars? Is $36,500 to much?? My car has the following on it now.

2000 Lexus GS400 Millenium Silver/Charcaol| 32k miles| 2001 tail-lights| Full Tint| | Eibach Springs| New Stock Plat. Wheels and tires (Ive had aftermarket on)| All service records available| Interior/Exterior is Flawless| 1 Owner|

Any opinions or ideas would be much appreciated, Thanks

Mike

Msray, Im in the market for a new GS400 myself. Been looking for about a month, but i plan on actually buying one in March.

California Market:

98 GS400 w/ 35k-50k miles ranges from $29k (private seller) - $35k (Dealer, probably ceritfied)

99 GS400 w/ 20k-40k miles ranges from $33 (private seller) - $38k - $40k (Dealer, probably Certified)

2000 GS400 w/ 20k-40k miles starts at least $38k (private seller) - $45k (Dealer, most likely certified)

A 2000 GS400 can easily go for $40,000 IMO. $36,500 for a GS400 makes me want to buy the car NOW! Thats an insanely good price.

Msray. Again, this is all depending that your GS is in exellent condition, which im sure it is.

You dont wanna wait till March do ya? :-)

Good Luck!

Hey mike.....Honestly I'd say its a ruff market right now (Rrrreally ruff) You will have a heard time getting what its worth. If you can sit on it 6 months you might make a couple extra grand out of it. You letting the car go with those eibachs?

mike,

your are not asking too much. there are many factors that contribute to sales of a pre-owned car. all it takes is time; but i guess it is taking a long time for you. the price is quite reasonable. as reference, there was a lex dealer adv a certified GS400,00 model, platinum 22k miles, silver, for $38.5k, with extended warranty.

as eng said, if my ferregamo is a litttle thicker right now, i would buy it from you for around that price. but time is not good.

no luck in the auto trader?

Mike,

That is a great price, but the problem is in your area there are a lot of GS400s for sale with all kinds of up-grades. I just bought my 99 GS400 with 39k miles on it for $35,900, it is fully loaded with NAV. It was one of the very few I could find (with NAV) from a privet party in Northern CA, I looked in your area and I found just what I wanted. I almost got a plane ticket to go buy one in your area.

Matt

Im confused about what you are saying here?! First you say there are lots but then you say there wasnt anything you wanted butthen you said you almost flew down to buy one.

I also did a search on autotrader in my area for 2000 lexus gs400 and I came up with a total of one valid ad within 100 miles of santa barbara...mine... weird if you ask me.

I think he really wanted Nav. Mike I'd put it in for 35,500 obo. Try the LATimes too. But wait 3-4 weeks after putting it in the AutoTrader.

My uncle is looking for a car too right now, he really likes my dad's GS400 so he wants one too, how much do you think he should pay for:

1999 Lexus GS400 with:
79,000 miles
HID
Nakamichi
17" factory chromes
Spoiler
Lexus Cell Phone built-in
Additional Wood Trim
even has the 3D license plate frames!

and he says it looked perfect inside and out, and I asked him about the chipping of the paint and he said there is none even though it has been drivin so many miles

$24k? I hope thats sarcasm.

Nanotech: I personaly wouldnt pay more than $36,000 for that Lex you spec'd out. And that would be from dealer only.

Oh and Side note for you Mike:

With all this 0% financing and 0 down on anything from Chevys, fords to even mitsibishisidifhsids and Hondas ... the used car market might slow down.

From personal experience, 6 RL friends just bought brand new cars becuase of the 0% financing. They were hunting around for used cars till the new advertisements and promos came out. Now they all have flippin NEW CARS!

Webbles <----- Doesnt have a flippin NEW CAR yet :-(

I know its a 99 and its fully loaded and scratch free, but $36k is a little too much don't you think? well, I guess its ok considering 99 GS400s with 50k miles and without many options in "ok" condition sell for $39k...

so I guess with about 28k miles more, you should cut off $5k? and then add $1k since its fully loaded and add another $1k since its in pristine condition?

$24k??? I am sure he would love that price, but lexus lasts for years and years and for hundreds of thousands of miles! plus its a 99 (not 98), its a GS400 (not 300), its fully loaded, and its in perfect condition....man if it really was $24k I think I would buy one for myself! I would even pay $26k easy for that !!!

He hasn't told me yet how much the dealer is asking for it, I will ask him that tomorrow.

I agree.......msray, That is very comparable to the Texas GS market currently....Alot depends on how quickly you want to get it sold...

nano,

for that 99 gs400, i would say ~$27k is reasonable. i have seen a 99 gs400 with nav+non chrome 17s less than 30kmiles sold for $34k, and the car was in excellent condition. the miles deduction is ~15cents/miles.

Wow, a 99 GS400 with nav & 17s with less than 30k miles for $34k???

where do you get the $0.15 per mile from? comes out to $11,700, so do I subtract that from the original price ($54k)?

then it would be $42k!!!

Nano,

let me clarify:

i took the $34000 and deduct $7500(0.15x50000 miles), which come out to be $26500. i have not seen the car that you mentiuoned, so i just gave an estimate....that is how much that GS would be worth to me....

$0.15 is a gen guide lines for luxury car depreciation. i worked at a consumer loan division before, and that is how bank/car dealers/ kbb evaluate used cars. again, just a genaral guide lines. used car market can be very confusing. you know the saying: a person's disgard can be another's treasure....i honestly think mike's GS is asking a reasonable price, very puzzled as to the no taker issue...esp on a popular silver car

william
