I have a 2000 GS400 but really like the new steering wheel in the 2001 models! Is there anyway that I could get one WITH WOOD from Lexus?? I know the 2001 GS430 doesn't have e-shift, but the GS300 does! So I'm sure they can make one with wood and the e-shift buttons?!?! I know about rauwood.com but that's wayyyy to expensive. I was just wondering if I had a problem with my steering wheel and took it in to be replaced, if I could order a 2001 steering wheel w/ e shift? and wood?

Can't do that. The steering wheel has changed greatly from 2000 to the 2001 model. The 2001 is prewired for a different phone system, the air bag design has changed also.

I have a 2000 RX with the same steering wheel as the GS, but without E-Shift. I have been looking for a steering wheel too. I love the one's on the new RX/GS, but they have been changed slightly in shape. One place I have found and am working with is a company out of Korea at http://www.evanix.com

They have a guy in Florida that sells wheels they make. There is another guy on this board we are working with as well. Maybe we can get together and get something done. I think it is $875 for the wheel. I don't have too many detail on it yet. That is expensive but resasonable compared to others-overall it is a ridicuous price but that is all we have.

FYI: The local lexus dealer tells me they discontinued the wood wheel on the 430. Says you can't get it anymore. Of course, he gave me a line of BS on other matters, so this is just one data point to consider.

I found a wood steering wheel for a gs400 but they were asking $1,500 and I thought it wasnt worth it but if you want it send me an e-mail I'll get you the stores phone number

I forgot to ad that the wood steering wheel on the gs400 also had the e-shifts on it which I thought might come in handy :P

To answer the question as to why the GS 430 got the wood wheel and no E-Shift, it's because due to the increase in torque, in order to conform to emmission standards it was removed. My wood wheel is in the works as you read this. And yes it will have the E-Shift buttons! It is a custom design coming from overseas. Stay tuned for pictures once I do the install.
