Default engine cover.

does anyone know if the 98 gs300 comes with an engine cover?most have seen don't have it.
i mean the one like the gs 400s
mine does not have a cover and looks like this

i want to know if its normal or not.
even the 01 upward gs300s have black covers with the L like this

i would like something like that to cover my engine.
anybody knows if its normal and if notwhat can be done?
carbon fibre?

i believe only the 2001+ gs300s had the extra cover for the throttle body... i have a 1999 gs3 and my engine bay is the same as it is in the first picture.

found this on ebay for the IS300 2001-2005. can it be modified.

Or are they mechanical reasons why the engine bay/throttle body are left in the open in the 98-2000 gs300s as opposed concealed ones in 98 upward GS400s and other GSs.
Or will the GS400s cover fit?

you will need to get brackets here and there to put on the engine cover, i think someone did the study before, don't think it's worth it

the gs400 one for sure won't fit, it's different engine

if you are going to install strut bars. don't bother getting one. You have to remove the covers to fit the bars. GL

That's wrong! The 98-99 GS 300 did not come with engine covers but the 2000-05 did! Here is my 2000 with one and an RMM strut bar! It does touch but I have had no problems with it, so far!:

You sure it wasn't just the Platinum Edition that came with an engine cover?

Member Shifterbob(Robert), who lives here in Orlando, has a 2000 GS that's not a platinnum series and it has a egine cover? I not 100% ,but most of the 2000 GS300's I've seen have an engine cover.

Dam D you always post the biggest dam pics...I've always got to scroll over even on my 20 inch home office screen. Shoot on my labtap I have to scroll way over just to see what pic you posted....LOL..LOL.... Right hand click, Edit, image, stretch and skew..horizontel 50%, vertical 50% save as and your done buddy...if you have windows

oh by the way. I did mine back in the day with just the rmm strut bar. It was a 98 and fit so tight that it actually held the 00-up engine cover in place so it didn't move. I did have to cut the back end of the cover fo rit to fit flush and also cut a small section for the throttle lever to have clearance, but it looked real nice. let me find a pic..

Here was mine back in the day. Rmm strut bar held it down tight for me but I just added some small blk rubber washes inbetween where the bar and cover touched so that it would crack the paint..

bluelex,
did you have to make any holes to bolt it to or was it just the strut bar holding it in place. also, did it touch any part of the engine part/throttle body?

Quick Reply: engine cover.
