Question

Looking for suggestions on replacing my 17" tires. Don't need the stickiest tires, but would like decent mileage and some quiet. Any thoughts?

I am very happy with Dunlop SP9000, quiet and comfortable.

Bridgestone RE730

I just put a set of these on in 18" and they are amazingly quiet and comfortable. The ride is better than the stock 17" S-02 Bridgestones.

I would go with some Nittos. They last for a very long time and offer tons of traction. I think they were called the 555. As far as them being quiet, I can't really help you with that. I had a '98 Vette, so you basically heard everything, especially the tires. I had nearly 50k on the rears with many burn outs on them.

The Nittos are 300AA if your considering them.

Thumbs up Bang for the buck!!!

Nitto NT555 245/40/or45/17or18 all the way around! All around performer, modest noise level, largest "foot'print" in it's class, best price in it's class, and yes the longest lasting in it's class! I have had 4 sets of this very tire. Need more info? Send me a email.

Michelin Pilot XGTZ 235-45 ZR 17's.

Good Grip in dry and wet. Much better than the stock Bridgestones (hated them).

Not a racing tire, but a good all-around tire and handles well when inflated to 35 lbs.

Should get 30k or so miles from them

Some have said they are noisy, but they don't seem so to me.

Lightbulb Michelins

Marty! 30k miles from a tire! What are they H rated? Of all the 20 or so sets of Z-Rated tires I have ever owned, the most mileage you could hope to see is 20k or so. And that is would be "Driving Miss Daisy"!

Cool tIRES

I'm running Pirelli P7000 Supersports - no complaints yet. I've had good experience with Pirelli's in general so I opted for them on my GS. 245/45/17's 235's are often out of stock. You can check out some reviews at http://www.tirerack.com .

Not so! I also have the exact same set and agree with his performance review and have hit north of 20K and still have a good 5-10K left on them. Great tires. And yes, I do take some hard turns occasionally.

Thumbs up

I have been researching tires and a great option is the Dunlop SP 5000s. Radical tread design, 168mph rated, very reasonably priced, very high rating from tire rack. Check em out at www.tirerack.com/tires/dunlop/du_s5000.jsp

Yea, but they don't last long at all. Check out the Michelin Pilot Sports and shop for a price break. Killer street tires.
