Default How many MPG do you guys get on your GS430's?

I just got my 2003 GS430 a week ago and the previous owner didnt take care of the car as great as you would hope. Anyway, I reseted the MPG indicator after a fuel up and i'm getting 12.6 MPG through the first 200 miles. I dont abuse the car..mostly cruising so i'm just curious what everyone else gets to see if i have a problem that needs to be taken care of somewhere. It seems a little too low - i was expecting to be in teh 16-18 range.

Car is stock by the way in regards to the performance side of it.

12.6 mpg is pretty low, especially since your engine is stock.

I only have an exhaust and a "mostly mild" lead foot and average about 19 mpg overall...I typically get about 25 mpg on the highway and about 16-18 mpg driving local.

Congrats on the car & hopefully a tune up is all you need.

most 2GS owners get 17-20 mpg

like phunky says, get a tune-up, replace spark plugs, reset ECU by disconnecting battery for more than 15 minutes

on my gs400 I am averaging 19.7 MPG. On this current fillup (yesterday cost me 52 Bucks!!! ) I am getting 21.7MPG. I drive mostly city driving about 85-90% and short freeway runs about 10 miles or so.

Wow...ok thanks for the responses. I'm ganna look into this on Monday. Over the weekend it went up to 13.7 probably because I canged the air filter but I guess ill do the tune up and get it over with. The car has 95k miles..its about the time for a tune up right? Anyone know about how much those things run outside the dealership?

One thing I would make sure to have checked out/replaced is the fuel filter...

Where in CA are you and how long is your daily drive in the city? Be happy that you're not getting 13-14mpg with a light foot

I live and work in the East Bay Area (Solano County). I drive around the city of Vallejo mostly for work (Realtor) and I hit the freeways every now and again mostly for a few exits down. I average a speed of 33MPH according to my Trip Info on the Nav. 13-14mpg...hmmm have you had it tuned up? What gas are you using?

It really depends if you have rims and stuff... 20 inch rims really makes the gas mileage go down....

I gave my car into the dealership yesterday for the check engine and vsc lights. So apparently the oxygen sensors need to be replaced which i hear has a big impact on the MPG. So they are replacing those for me and also two door actuators. $1505 total all i'm responsible for is $100 deductible. Thank god i got extended warranty with the car. I paid $1800 for 2 years. It almost paid for itself in teh first two weeks.

Ill follow up once I get the car back and drive it around a little hopefully thats what was causing the low MPG.
