I was scared b/c with my GS 400, I basically just copied what bitkahuna did
so I already knew how the car would look (I purchased identical Wed Farmas for example). Is there anyone else with these wheels on a GS? I haven't seen it. So I was very, dare I say "frightened" to see the car finally rolled out the garage. What if it didn't work out?
This time, I knew the company I wanted, didn't know the wheel I wanted. So I focused on what I wanted.
1. Stealthy, classy, almost stock look. I want "pros" to notice, not everyone. Something that said "hey, that car has something done to it".
2. Race engineered. I will begin going to the track (I drag now) this year. I need a wheel strong enough for the track and street. Doesn't get better than BBS.
3. A "time period" look. I didn't want new 5k wheels on a used 2001 GS. I didn't want the new rims, on an old car. RS IIs debuted around the time the GS 430 did. It was perfect.
4. Chrome lip. Not looking for a lip (though I would go back to one), I was looking for a chrome lip to match the window trip and chrome around the lower part of the car.
5. Sounds crazy, but nothing that is going to get me really noticed at my job.
Negatives
1. No lips, which is the "in" thing now. Sadly, its gone the "my lips are bigger than yours" route like wheel sizes.
2. Mesh is an absolute PAIN to clean. Yuck.
3. I like exposed lug nuts. This style wheel has a cover that goes over them.

Looking good though. I hope to be back down south at some point this summer... I can't wait to reconvene with the SELOC/1Sick crew in Atlanta. And of course, I KNOW you are coming to Lexfest. So whichever city north of the Mason-Dixon line it's in, I owe you a night out.

And you're tracking the car this year???? Damn, make sure you get some video of that...
