Default Where to buy tilt steering grease?

I need to fix my tilt and telescoping motors because they are slow and stop working sometimes. Anyone know where to get the grease for it?

lithium grease can be found anywhere. I bought a tube of Valvoline synthetic-blend (lithium soap grease) at autozone for $3.50 or so. I also use it on my bolts/nuts whenever I take things out. Yet I still have 1/10 of the tube left. hehe. It comes in handy.

The lexus guys wants around $30 or so for the grease? Or did I hear that wrong. I remember seaching it somewhere.

Anyhow, I think i'm going to attempt this because mine makes noises everytime I take out the key. It sounds....unluxury

So does that mean I can use any grease or should I only use the Toyota stuff? Just wondering because there's a difference between $3 and $30. Actually this thread
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ng+wheel+motor
quotes it at $64. Hmm.

i've also seen it for $40. hehe.

I dont know. I think i'm just going to stick with the grease I have. Unless someone tell me why I should use the lexus grease, I'm putting in the valvoline stuff.

ATF fuild can serve as grease, I guess. That's how it makes the tran smooth. (Same for engine oil). Just that these kinds are too thick ... can't get in all places easily.

i think i need to do this too. My sunroof is kind of noisy.

And I don't know if I should put ATF in my tilt motor.

Lithium grease sounds good to me. Don't see myself spending $30+ if the Toyota grease doesn't have anything special to it.

I've used it before on my previous LS400, and it worked great on the sunroof, and window rails (they are exposed on the LS400 model).

Has anyone ever attempted this or looked into it?

I'm going to look up some info tonight to see if it's doable. Sad how lexus decided not to use the same motor on a $50k+ car. I'd expect our tilt mechanism to be in an ES, but not a GS

Okay, it seems that my tilt does not work when it's under about 60 degrees outside. Once the sun comes out it seems to work but not very smoothly. It's been cold lately in SoCal so it's been getting stuck more and more. I'll have to figure this out soon.
