Default 98 GS Suspension Squeaks

Hey, guys. My front suspension squeaks when I go over bumps in the road, speed bumps, etc. Definitely happens more when it is cold outside. It does not happen when I turn, accelerate or break.

I also started noticing it after I dropped it with l-tuned springs and shocks/struts.

Help!

Is it just the front, rear, or all 4?

Just the front. And even the slightest imperfections in the road make it squeak. Again - much more noticeable when it is cold outside. FYI - I live in West LA - so cold is like 65 degrees.

Do you have any other suspension mods?

My 98' Gs300 (105k) does the same thing and the steering wheel dosen't return after I make a turn. I'm thinking its a bushing and/or my ball joints?

Check your balljoints, even though you said it doesn't squeak when turning

if your steering doesn't return, and your balljoints are fine, then have your pretensioner adjusted. By beware because there are some 98' models that do not have the same rack as the 99-05. You'll need to have your steering rack checked for leaks and check the fluid level.

I have a squeak in my front suspension that turned out to be the sway bar bushings. I lube them up once or twice a year and that takes care of the problem.

Thanks GSteg! I do recall the previous owner saying that he had the lower ball joints replaced. As far as the "pretensioner" you are refering a part on the rack & pinion? I just checked and I do not have any powersteering fluid leaking and the resivoir is full.

yes the pretensioner is part of the R&P setup.

Irgnore the two red arrows. See where the big yellow/gold bolt? It requires a hex key to turn it (i used pliers, but that's a different story). The older 98's do not have it so look under your car to see if you have exactly the same rack.

Default I have the same SET UP and Issue here in Chicago

Ltuned Spings and Shocks

Below 40 degrees...squeeky, squeeky, squeeky, squeeky...down the street.

1. Changed out Ball Joints (needed it 90K).....squeeky, squeeky...down the street.

2. Changed out the Shocks to KYB GR2s...squeeky, squeeky...down the street

3. Changed out the Steering Rack Bushings...squeeky, squeeky...down the street

4.Greased the hell out of my Front Sway Bar bushings.....silence.

too much silence. I'm bored now and want to get a Harder Stiffer suspension..
I am sad.

Exactly! So you just greased the sway bar bushings? Is that done rather easily - and what type of grease should I use?

Thanks man!

Contact Daizen for some grease. It's about $5 or so, but it' very stick and will resist water better than some of the other grease out there.

I use to have the same squeak and it drove me nuts until I great the shidizzle out of them.
