Default I need a quick opinion...

This is a lighting forum question but I was hoping to get some feedback more quickly....
I just bought a set of Philips Xenon bulbs off Ebay
The boxes they came in say D2R but on the bulb it just says D2- no S or R
I was told by the Ebay seller he bought them in bulk and that the supplier changed them from D2S to D2R.
Does this sound fishy? I only paid $88 including shipping.

What would you do? The seller has offered to take them back and refund without me even asking....

Check the bulb. Does the bulbs have ceramic coatin on the glass? If so, then they're D2R. If not, then they're probably D2S.

Yes they do have the ceramic pattern like Maintrain's pic

Yes it does help

But- the bulb does not have the designation "R" or "S" after the D2, the box does and not the bulb. Am I worrying to much here about the lack of consistency with product and packaging?????

I don't think there is any difference between the d2r and d2s as far as the base and and the way they install in the housing. As long as you have that ceramic pattern on the bulb you should be good to go. It's my undersanding that the pattern blocks light so that they reflect against our headlight housing in the proper place. I have read where some guys have actually use d2s bulbs in our housing with no problems whatsoever.

Well I decided to put them in last night. I must say I am unimpressed with the amount of output on the new bulbs. Since my other bulbs were 9 yrs old, I was hoping to say "Ah much better". But, it is back to ho-hum HIDs for me.

Thanks you Maintrain and GSteg for the help~

No problems problems for us in terms of functionality but problems for oncoming drivers though right?
