Unhappy Neighbor backed up into my car

The car was repaired once on that rear quarter panel so after being hit again the bondo on the back bumper cracked into many pieces and fell off. The paint is also badly cracked and peeling too. As far as I can tell there's no sheetmetal damage.

She doesn't want to go to the insurance but I think that's our only option because a) I want it done right, not some halfa$$ job done with a hook up deal and b) I need a rental to get to work while the car is in the shop.

What do you guys advise me to do?

if she doesn't want to use insurance, tell her you get to choose which shop it goes to so that you know it won't be a half *** job, and that she has to buy the rental for you.

if not, then go through insurance - i don't know for CA but in my state we have 24hrs. to report the incident. don't take too long

go to a quality body shop and get an estimate and add $ for a rental. tell her you want a check for the amount of estimate pronto or you'll have to go through her insurance.

it'll probably be way cheaper for her if she just went through the insurance, but if not, tell her to expect to pay $$$$ for the damages/rental

I'd use insurance. Would hate to run into problems down the road, i.e., if your neighbor disagrees with the repair costs.

Go through insurance! I made that mistake with my old prelude...I was being too nice...in the end I got screwed....always go through the insurance......by the way my 99gs3 got rear ended a week ago....the damage was $8300...the person that hit us has AAA and they covering everything including car rental...I took it to a Lexus body shop and it will get repaired properly....sucks, got another week to go...can't wait to get my car back...

Go through insurance. I didn't realize that it cost a couple thousand to fix the damages for what I thought was a simple tap and scratch when I got hit by a driver with no insurance.

Insurance man, trust me.. I know you wanna be nice to your neighbor but in the end you're the one thats gonna get screwed, my car got rear ended while it was parked, 3,500 in damages, your gonna regret it if your car is not fixed properly..and believe me, u will notice it if it's not...

you should go thru insurance, but if you don't make sure you get her to sign a document acknowleding that she is at fault and is responsible for all repair costs.
