About RICE
ok guys I'm seeing a lot of posts about RICEY mods. Here is my take on it...
I think most of us consider the following 'RICEY' mods. Loud, tin-can exhaust, stickers of mods that you dont have on your car, fake badges, after market wings, fake HIDs, painting brake calipers, 'knock-off' rims, etc.
If that is the case then a lot of the guys on this boards are pushing luxury rice mobiles.
Some of us have LOUD after-market exhausts that adds no SIGNIFICANT gain in HP. Some of us have exhaust tips (does not improve performance). Some put Aristo stickers on their GS300. Some of us rebadge our GS to say Aristo. Aristo and GS are different cars. The engine is different. Like a GS3 engine is different from a GS4.
Some have after-market spoilers that do not improve the aerodynamics of the car. We change the bulbs in our car to get a different color light from stock (just like some of the ricers out there). We add body kits that make our car LOOK faster than it really is.
Most of these mods can be considered RICE but most of us dont think about it that way. Ever wondered why?
Some of us put top of the line racing rims on our luxury cars. Performance rims which belong on Ferraris and Porsches on a 300HP luxury sedan! I know when I see rim that looks like it cost more than the car itself I’m usually like “What the ….?”
Some guys on this board are trying to get rear bumpers that look like the M5's. I dont see anyone telling them that it is RICEY. But when you guys see Hondas w/ the GS rear lights on the trunk you go off on a frenzy.
Shoulder pads saying "Powered by Lexus" LOOKS just as ricey as a nose mask on a GS. I wont put either on mine but I'm sure there is a reason people put them on THEIR cars.
Anyways I will stop here. I'm curious to hear how you guys respond to this post.
DISCLAIMER: This post is NOT directed to anyone in particular. Especially because I have a few mods that can be considered RICEY
