Default factory amp

Does anyone know if there is any problems with using the stock wiring but removing the amp? I have a aftermarket amp in which I am only using the speaker wires from the factory amp conector. I am also splicing into the ground, acc, and constant 12v wire at dash harness.

the only time i ever had my guage clutser lights go off was when i didn't tighten my ground wire completely tight coming off the battery dont ask y but, it was the problem here is the details of the story. I changed my battery 1 day and i just put the - wire back on and didnt tighten it, i figured that is what happened after driving 2 days, and the time i found out that it was that my car wouldnt start, poped the hood and the battery conmector was off it must of came off, or slipped off during vibration, or something but as soon as i put it on and tightened it they where on, and also u need to run ur aftermarket amp from the battery not from the harness in the dash. that could have been your problem. try those things and hopefully u should be fine.

make sure what you tapped at the harness was an actual constant 12V and ACC. you might have tapped into the dimmer or illumination which does deal with the instrument cluster. probably popped a fuse or something?

I had the same problem before...but it was just a loose negative battery cable. Tighten it up and restarted the car, problem solved.

I love this freakin car... the GS model has a circuit breaker and a ECM for the instrument cluster, make sure to check your connections to see if you crossed any wires, check your battery connection too. the circuit breaker should reset if you disconnect the battery negative terminal for a few min.. if that doesn't work your gonna have to check your modifications step by step,to make sure there are no short curcuits. I don't wanna scare you but I must tell you the truth, if that doesn't work you have a serious problem; all your instrument readings as well as the back light are connected to a control module, if that was damaged..well I don't have to tell you Lex parts aren't cheap.. I have the electrical schematics for the 98 model, they shouldn't be too different for the later models, I can e-mail them to you if you like..
