Default Cel P0430

My CEL came on the other week, had the code read and it came up with this:

P0430 Bank 2 Cat below threshold

My question is, does this mean the Cat is gone or could it just be the sensor that is broke.

Thanks
Paul

i'm sure there is a check you can do on the sensor, If i have time i'll look it up for you, i have the manuals.

The code is universal for the following:

-Gas leakage on exhaust system
-Catalytic Converter gone
-Open or short in oxygen sensor circuit
-Oxygen sensor heated beyond normal temperature

You'd have to check for all those. But unless you have the lexus computer, you're not going to be able to test the 3rd or 4th possibility.

The sensor itself should be fine though. Most likely it's the cat, but dont take my words for it.

i would suggest that you do a test and see if you really need to replace your lexus oxygen sensor so that you'll be sure that it is really the sensors that needs replacement.
