Who cares what it looks like. The problem I had with my old trunk rack on an Accord is rubbing on the car. This is why I only do roof racks(on my 4runner now)

So make sure the bike will not touch the car...simple as that

Whoa, it looks like the roof rack is the selection of choice. The thing about roof racks, it looks like it's a pain in the a** to get your bike up and properly secured. I mean I've never seen any one do it before. At least with the hitch and trunk kinds, your standing on the ground while you lift and then snap your bike(s) in place. I don't see myself driving to places really far with my bike like if I was going on vacation with it so I could get away with the trunk mount models. Just nearby places within 15-20 minutes from my house.

Blah it depends.. Its not a pain if you dont own a heavy Huffy bike.. of course my GT above only weighs like 15lbs or so, so its not too bad.. plus my car is dropped so I dont need a ladder..lol

Just get something that suits your needs. Bike racks arent meant for looks.. although some swear by them.. plus remember you will get more drag and a little more windnoise on the highways.

Roof mount, if you ride that much. Otherwise, I'd just remove the bike's front and rear wheels and stick the them in the trunk.

as other's have mentioned, get an suv. if that's not an option, roof it. besides, looks more aggressive than a tow hitch on a lowered GS. my $0.02

Getting a bike on top isn't a big deal unless one is clueless. I've seen some drag a pedal across the door or hung up on a gutter when the water channels on roof lines were more pronounced. So long as you just don't carelessley toss it up there...no worries.

besides Thule, there are also comparable or even better systems from Saris and Yakima. I have had Thule roof rack systems over the last 15 years or so on a Ford Probe, my old MKIII Jetta, and even on my 94 Wrangler. There are gutter-mounted and gutterless roof mounting systems out there for almost every application. They are the most solid (albeit more expensive and less flexible) choice by far. You can also use the same system for skis, snowboards, cargo, etc.

IMO trunk mounts are second-rate. You run the risk of more potential damage to your car with them. Straps, buckles, etc. whipping around in the wind not to mention a lack of stability.

NEVER put your bike inside your car. There are so many points on any bike, road or MTB, that can trash your interior by poking holes, leaving scratches, etc.

Roof or bust!!!
