Default GS430 wont start

I was gonna sell the car last month, but then changed my mind.. big mistake. Now the car isn't starting - I turn the key,and it just goes "trrrrrrrr", all the lights are blinking and engine isnt cranking. The battery is fine, because the headlights work.Am I looking at a new starter here?

Does it only click? If so, then yes..your starter is probably the culprit. It happened to me.

I know you said the battery ok but did you try to jump it anyways?? I had an IS before but gave it to the wife. I didn't use it for an entire weekend and tried to start it on a Monday. No go. The lights went on and eveything but the engine wouldn't turn over. I got a jump and it started up. For some reason, the Lexus battery isn't that strong. The same thing almost happend to my GS I have now...

Yep, it keeps clicking, very fast. The engine doesn't turn over - and the car has less than 90K. So much for Lexus reliability.

if you're starter keeps on clicking, then you might be in luck. Usually if a starter goes bad, there wont be any noise coming from the starter, only a single click from the relay.

Hah, just jumped it from my LS, and she started right up. I guess its just a battery or alternator, hopefully battery.

What kind of battery should I get anyway? What does Lexus use for OEM? Should I get one of these optima batteries?

Dont bother with optima batteries.

Just use any regular battery. Unless you have a huge demand for power, a regular battery works just fine. The battery is only used to start up the car, not run it. I'm running a duralast battery. Run any battery you like, but for the most part, any would do. Optima is twice as expensive, but is it really worth it on a stock GS? Some people have problems with them, while others done. It's a hit and miss.

If the gauges flicker really fast and doesn't turn, it's the battery, get a jump...

Happened to me twice... Not to worry

Because lights turn on doesn't mean that the battery have a enough amps to turn the started. Right now mine is acting up also if I play the radio w/ the access turn on it will drain the battery. I would get the battery tested then the alternator. Good Luck

So if I stop at Autozone (closest auto parts store on the way to my shop), and pick up any battery that fits the car I should be fine? I heard some cheaper batteries can literally blow up or leak. Is there any particular brand thats more trustworthy than others?

Any will do! but find one with the correct side poles. The higher CCA will be best (cold cranking amps) 700 or over is ussually good.
If you have a powerful sound system you might consider a higher

Best bet is check your car by Autozone. They will check the charging system ans install the correct battery.

Glad it wasn't the starter. I had mine changed last month. That was fun.
