Default Help me find the leak. Pics inside.

I have an oil leak coming from the front of my engine. I can see the oil coming from around the water pump area. Could it be the cam cover gasket?
I know I have another leak down by the oil pan possibly b/c I see residue there too, but haven't been able to check it out.

Car is a 98 gs3 with about 115k on the clock.

Also, when looking at the oil leak, I noticed a disconnected vacuum hose coming from my airbox. When I looked at the vacuum diagram, its the hose running from the airbox to the canister.(the tube going down in pic 3) Doesn't that mean that this line provides vacuum almost everything under the hood? Strange b/c the car runs like a champ even with it disconnected.

Here are the pics.

Looks like your're leaking oil out of the headgasket or something. I'm not sure though. Maybe someone else here will have a different opinion.

Leak look like it is from the seal on the exhaust cam behind the gear.

wouldn't a blown headgasket also mean water in oil?

i'm thinking that its the front seals. the cam seal or something. maybe someone can chime in and let me know if thats what it is.

err. you beat me to it. damn, i was hoping it wasn't, cause that would mean i would have to bring it in b/c of the vvti.

Anyone know what kind of effect the disconnected vacuum hose would have on a car?

After I connected it again, it seemed to drive faster, although it could be a placebo effect.

Valve cover gasket or cam seal . you should check those gasket first because this happened to the most 100k +. I've seen a lot like this before.
You should check your coolant level. But i dont think the head gasket because the car is working normaly. If yr head gasket got promblem.the car wont work well ( compression + coolant)

Yea. I doubt its the headgasket, otherwise you'll be blowing clouds of smoke out of your exhaust.

I had a misdiagnosis of a bad main seal and others I couldn't remember.

Turned out to be a loose/bad oil filter.
When driving, the oil flew back and leaked around those regions.

Have it inspected properly on a lift .
