High Beams

there really isn't anything you can do to make your high-beams BRIGHTER if u have stock HID.. you could buy 9005HID kit for the highbeams but then your daylight running lights would ALWAYS be HID so you would always have either your 9005 HID on or you stock HID on... its up to you.. there are bluer bulbs but those aren't neccessaraly brighter they just match HID better. sorry man the only choise is HID 9005 but be carefull if u choose that
oh one thing you could do is buy the Polarg M-6 wedge bulb, the wedge bulb looks much bluer and therefore you would think it takes away light output but since its so huge it actually makes more light. It is one when you high-beams are on.. but i dont think it would make a noticable difference.
you can get the HID and the Polarg lights here www.autodynamic.com
p.s. sorry if my post doesnt make sence i have nmonia and kinda the flu and **** so im not feeling so great

Aren't the HID's only on the low beams? The high beams are 9005 bulbs I believe. Just want to know if anyone has changed them and what their experiences have been. Thanks for the input.

Yes stock HID is low beam, but is also on for highbeam, the only time the stock HID isn't on is when the DRL (day running lights) is on.
but the 9005 bulb does two things on the car:
Runs at a low wattage when on DRL
and
Runs at high wattage when on highbeam
regular night lights the 9005 bulb is off.
so if you see what i mean im saying whenever you are driving with HID in 9005 they will always be on except when your normal night lights are on.
I hope im making a bit more sence. I dont think anyone has done it on clublexus.

This always throws CL for a loop. We need to put this in a FAQ.
The whole DRL / High Beam issue is year specific. I think 99s and 00s and on, use the high beam bulb at low wattage as the DRL. Search for previous posts where we've hashed this out.
Here's one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=24756
98s don't.
I have OEM HIDs, a seperate high beam bulb, and seperate wedge bulbs (these will come on with the parking lights, and I use them as DRLs). See below
So, all you have to do is change your high beam bulb. That's it.
High beams are 9005 (aka HB3) - Stock = 60W - This is in your Owner's Manual
Here is a link to a place I have purchased from, but you can get 9005s pretty easily anywhere.
http://nextcollection.com/html/home-...fm?search=9005
I have not upgraded my high beams yet, so I cannot make a recommendation on a brand or model.

I've got a 98, with OEM HIDS, and my high beams will not some on until I activate them my pulling my signal stalk towards me until it clicks.
Do you have OEM HIDS? Maybe this is the mitigating factor.
OK, I just reread your post, and it looks like you do.
Wierd, I didn't think DRLs came standard until 99s.
So you have DRLs on all the time, no matter what?
ANYWAY, Dave, change your high beams to 9005s and you'll be brighter.

yep i have DRL no matter what i cant turn all my lights off, unless the car is off. also if i want high beam i aslo have to pull the stock in to flash or push out to keep it on.
but those highbeam lights come on at a low wattage no matter what. Go out to your car when you get a change and flip the light switch to the off position and go out and check you should see hte 9005 high beam light running at a low wattage
yes i have stock factory HID

I think in Canada, DRL's have been mandatory for any car for a while now. That's probably the difference between your two 98 GS's. I believe in the US, DRL's became standard on 2000 models.
