I own a '98 GS 400 and the squeaking noise from the glove department is killen me. Many people can either not hear it or dont notice cause my music is blasting, but it bothers me big time. Anyone know what it is. I have heard others have had the same problem.

 

I too had a glovebox squeak that was solved by a CL member. The fix for it was to put an adhesive felt circle right on the glovebox door opposite where the switch is. Apparently the tolerance is just a touch too loose causing the switch to make the squeaking noise.

I'm gonna try that ... I hear that irritating squeak also. Going over bumps and what not .. I always think I have some loose cd cases even when nothing is in there but the maint. book.

 

I had a squeaky, almost metallic sounding noise coming from glove box area. It took several tries at the dealership but they finally found it. It was a bracket that held the engine management computer or something like that, and they put some padding between the two. It definitely worked.
