Those outers don't look like Sonar. Sonars have less LEDs and are square patterned when lit up. I'm not sure about the inners. The inners might be Sonar.

I'm a victim too of this cheap E-bay crap. The drivers side has maybe 3 or 4 LEDs out and sometimes when I bang the lights they come back on.

Shame cause I love how they look but thats what I get buying cheap *** made under the ocean crap.

What brand do you have? I've been hearing more and more about this issue. Do you think its a connection issue?

so is there a single reliable LED besides sonar ? This is depressing to read . Looks like I might just end up clearing my 98 tails instead.

Tony_G sounds like you have the same problem I did with my wife's taillights. I bought hers off of eBay also plugged 'em in and what do you...nothing! Turns out they were wired completely wrong! The wires going into the connector were all jumbled. If you feel up to it. Get a wiring diagram for your brake lights and exterior lights. That way you'll know which wire on the vehicle side controls what and you'll have to figure out the wires on the light side and rebuild the connector. I guess it's the price we pay for buying them on eBay...after that I've had no problems with mine. Hope this helps...

I took your advices took out a test light and I did process of elimination. I narrowed my problem down its not the tail lights their fine its the Green and white wire (Brake lights) its not giving power when the brake is pressed. I tested the wire underneath the steering wheel on top of the brake pedal and it does what it's suppost its stays a ground until the brake pedal is pressed then it gives out a hot reading. However at the harness at the rear of the car it just stays a ground not getting power theirs either a break in the wire somewhere or I have a bad relay. Anybody have any ideas? or a wiring diagram I can look at to try to figure this out. My break lights dont light up because the brake wire Green white isn't getting power to the rear tail lights.
