There is no comparison; two totally different cars. The handling on the M3 out of the factory was incredible. Throw on some coilovers and you have yourself a great track car. As most of you know, the car has a 7800rpm redlined Inline 6, producing (factory numbers) 333hp and about 272 tq. They squeezed out 100 hp / liter which made the engine pushed to its limits. It was a great car, and so much fun to drive, but I found myself hating racking up the miles on it. I know the majority of people that own an M3 dd it, but if I ever by one again, it will be as a second car. It is german made, and so the maintence required could get rather mind-boggling. For instance, just to change the oil yourself would still cost you about $75-80 dollars, being that the M3 requires a specific oil ( I think 10w60) which was only made for the S54 engine. That was just a oil change. You can imagine what other items cost. That being said, the car always begged to be driven hard and I could never just "cruise" in it.

Now with the GS: First off, you get bigger displacement. Nothing quite like a V8. That being said, not nearly as fast, but is fast enough for what it is. A great cruiser car, that you can just sit back and relax. As a DD, I love the GS. It has sex appeal in the design, which I still find very attractive even after 9 years. On top of that, it is a Toyota which makes maintence rather easy and the engine bulletproof. I can't wait to pick this car up and start driving it!
