Dealer said no to turning of DRLs?!?!
I posted a few weeks ago on how I could go about getting the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) disabled on my GS. I was told that the dealer could do it.
I was in a dealer a couple of days ago getting my snow tires on and asked them to disable the DRLs too. The tech told me that it was ILLEGAL for the dealer to disable them (I live in IL). WTF?!?!
I have a buddy with a BMW 330i and he had his DRLs disabled by BMW when he got his car? Are they lying to me because they are just too lazy to do it...or is this really illegal

Another pile of BS from a dealer. There is no state or federal regulation at this time regarding DRLs in the United States. Common sense support: only VW, GM, Lexus/Toyota have DRLs currently.
You have been given the hose.

DRLs
First, don't be too upset with the dealer, there is, can be (potentially), a serious liability problem for him here.
I can tell you how to do it but then I might have to kill you..
The is a resister pak just in front of the brake cylinder toward the top of the shock tower, yellow caution note about heat if I remember. You can reduce the brightness of the DRLs by incresing the resistance of this pak...

Yeah, what WW said.
When I was at SRT a while ago, Mo showed us about a fuse or something to pull out around that general area - I didn't pay too much attention since I don't have 'em but basically, just pull out that fuse that WW is talking about and you'll be DRL-less.
