1 would a non hid assembly work with a hid assembly meaning could everything be converted over?

2 i have a 98 gs400 navigation unit and i bought a 2001 navigation with mark levison unit because of the update screen looks would it work with the 98 dvd navigation unit. im really asking is it plug and play

3 if that work and plugs in could would i be able to update the dvd disk to the right version

I don't know the answer to the HID question but regarding the NAV system, they aren't plug and play. The 98-00 GS 400 uses a HDD navigation system while the 2001 and later models are DVD based. I know of one Club Lexus member who replaced his HDD Nav with the newer DVD unit but it involved a fair amount of work and some additional parts to handle the changes in wiring - definitely not a plug and play affair.

Here is the link to some pics from someone who did upgrade their HDD Nav to the DVD version.

If your car came with HID already, then you can add on the non-HID headlight. The only problem is that you'll have the annoying light on your dash that tells you the auto-leveler is malfunctioning. You can probably pull the bulb out if it annoys you that much.

Same thing for the other way around. You can add HID headlights to a non-HID equipped car and it'll still work. But you wont get the autoleveling feature.

??

You have to be more specific than that. What do you already have and what do you want to put in?

for hids there is nothing to convert. You have to change plugs from your non hid car. You have 9006 sockets. You would need to buy female 9006 sockets with pigtails(open wires) at the end and direct wire it to the ballast. The autoleveling function cannot be converted over though.
