Default two coats of candy + two coats of clear

The lex is in our bodyshop taken apart so I decided to make a small change on the LED tail lights. Still have to rub it out. ** bottom left corner is just a reflection**

Ahhhh Great Job doing it in real candy red paint versus my red tape job.

Not sure if you took my suggestion on the candy red from my thread

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...07#post1817107

or if you came up with it yourself, but the tape version doesn't hold up.
I've long since removed the tape, but looking at this is giving me ideas to re-do mine using candy red paint.

Not being familiar with these lenes I'm assuming the clear portion was a bit wider and is now painted with the candy red? If so, great job and it makes the tails look real nice.

James,
They started to lift a bit over time. Basically the tape doesn't like being stretched around the edge; it does better on flat surfaces.

Guys, this is real easy. Take 1/8"- 1/4" masking tape and tape off the parts you DONT WANT TO PAINT. You can use 1/2"- 3/4" for the major mask off. Take some 600 grit sandpaper and sand the parts that are to be painted. Get some Testors candy red model paint and spray 2 coats on the tail lights...let it sit. Then coat it with some Testors model gloss lacquer. when dry, use some rubbing compound. Automotive candy and clear are better and will hold up longer, but the DIY guy can do this for under 10 bucks.

Its still going to be white, we just had to weld up 7 holes from the previous spoiler and then repaint the trunk lid and blend both rear quarters. Then we have to clear the whole rear end again.

I used thin pinstripe size masking tape to get the curves then used the bigger masking tape to cover the rest
