Default How to remove the hood?

Any particular way to remove the hood so that it comes off easily? First remove the hood props followed by the hinges?

What about the windscreen washer nozzles?

Anyone know?

hey hameed, didnt really have a need to take off the hood of the gs but my experience with a few other cars is that you need at the very least 2 people. First you should remove the hoses for the windshield nozzels. Then pop the clip on the hood struts but dont take them off yet. I would suggest that you place a towel on the edges of the hood closest to the windshield just in case. Have you and you friend on both sides of the hood. Than go to the hinges and start undoing in one bolt at a time start with the top one first and than the bottom one. Pass the wrench to your friend have him undo his side. Pop off the struts should be just a pull and they come right off and pull the hood off.

This is the way I did it on my honda but basically same thing with any car. Let me know if there is anything you need me to clear up.

Think about where you're going to set it once you have it off. It's only moderatley heavy but certainly unweildy

Hameed taking this hood off is a pain in the butt hameed. The whole strut has to be removed from the body in order to take off the hood as opposed to other hoods where you could just remove the stuts from the actual hood and than lay them down in the engine bay. You will need I think its a 10mm o-wrench to hold one side while using open wrench to little by little loosen the inside bolt. Its hard to explain in writing but when you look at the bolts that is connected to the body you will understand that you will need two people and its a pain. Use a towel like mentioned about to protect the corner of your hood from getting damaged...I screwed up and chipped my hood now i have to repaint it. Good luck. Can't wait to see why your taking your hood off.
