Get the AVN5500. I just saw it went down in price on Crutchfield to the same price as the D3.

dusouth - is the processing pretty quick? like - when you go through the nav screens, is it quick or slow? one of the things I hate about nav units is they are SO SO SO slow. i just hopped into an 08 xB today and the nav unit that it came with was pretty darn quick. but... 2300 bucks. blah.

To all those who got an aftermarket navi...do you use it alot? I don't do alot of long trips. In your opinion, is it worth it? I got a qoute from my boy for 1100 installed.

I think the worst thing about the D3 is that it only has 1 DVD slot. Which means, when you need to input a NAV destination, you need to eject your music CD, put in the map DVD, input your destination, let it load into memory, eject the map DVD, and put your music CD back to resume. PITA.

If you use a MP3 player as your main source of music or you don't listen to CDs then I guess that's not really a problem.

Do you have the D3? If so, do you mind posting pictures of it in your car? Thanks.

Hello,

I don't have the D3 I have stock NAV. My friend was going to get the D3 so I did some research on it and found that 1-slot issue.

Will having a dvd changer prevent having to eject music cd and putting in the nav dvd in?

That might work, as you just need to leave the NAV DVD in that slot. But I don't have that unit so I'm not sure and don't quote me on that lol.

yes it will. but all the talk of having 1 slot for the dvd and not being able to listen to cd's isn't a good reason not to purchase the d3..............1 you "can" pre-program a route so the navi will work from the memory then put in your music cd's..............2 you can hook up ipod adapter($30) and use it with the touch screen on your d3............3 i've also read online that you can buy the bluetooth adapter($150) and play music from your mp3 player on select cellphones like the ones with windows media player built in(mostly pda phones) so the are other ways to play music , yes it is nice to pop in a cd with 10-20 songs on it but its even better mp3 player or disc with 400 songs on it the d3 is value priced at about $765 shipped to your door verses $1200 for some other models .
