Default What type of oil do you use and what do you do for a 60K service?

I dont care if this is a repost or what but I can't find the oil topics on here.

What type of oil do you use? Full synthetic Mobil 1 or what?

What do you do for the 60K service? What is involved? I got 45K on my 2003 430 right now so I'm nearing that 60K mark and I want to make sure I take care of it as it should be without paying the high price the dealership will charge. Besides that I'm an hour drive out of my way from the nearest Lexus dealership so even if I wasn't cheap I can't take the time to go that much out of my way to service the car

Well that's not very nice. How about 'I hope this isn't a repost, but...'

It sounds a lot less like starting off with a '**** you guys, but...'

EDIT: Try the maintenance forum.

I know I know, sorry. I'm a regular of www.layitlow.com and in there you have to fight everything you put up, especially in Off Topic. Someone will post up something about their uncle dieing and out of no where you'll see 3 or 4 guys saying "What did he leave you? I want his car....." type of posts. Its a very vicious forum

That list is very long; If I get time, I may type it up later. That information may also be available to you if you register at the Lexus owners website. I don't know what the prices are like in AZ, but my 60K was only around $500 with Mobil-1 (but synthetic is not necessary) at Sewell Lexus. The spark plugs don't have to be changed until 120K on the 430, so the 60K service is far less expensive than it is for the 300 (which requires spark plug changes at 60K).

Actually the GS300 since 2001+ uses the same Denso Iridium spark plugs which last 120k miles.

Cool. Well glad to hear I dont have to replace the spark plugs.

Yes please type up the list I would need to do at 60K for the service beyond basic tune up stuff.

Interesting. PO did change all 8 spark plugs at 60K. I guess it doesn't hurt.

Your ride is low in mileage so there's no need to put synthetic. I only put synthetic oil during the winter months.

Can't go wrong with Casterol Syntex! My father's been using Casterol for years and swears by it. I started on it with my Lexus and it runs smooth even though I drive it hard, real hard!!

Performed @ 60K by Sewell Lexus

Replace Engine Oil and Air Filter (Mobil-1)
Test Battery and Clean Terminals
Replace Air Filter
Replace Engine Coolant
Inspect A/C Filter
Flush Brake System
Inspect Brake Pads, Rotors, Lines and Hoses
Inspect Differential Lube and Drain Plug Gasket
Inspect Transmission Fluid
Inspect All Suspension Components
Check Tail-Light/Headlights
Inspect Wiper Inserts
Inspect Fuel Lines & Connections
Inspect Bolts and Nuts on Chassis and Body
Inspect Exhaust Pipe & Mountings
Inspect Steering Linkages & Boots
Inpsect Rack & Pinion Assembly
Inspect Fuel Tank Cap Gasket
Inspect Ball Joints & Dust Covers
Inspect Drive Shaft Boots
Rotate Tire
Body Inspection
Check All Fluid Levels
Check Tire Pressure (including spare)
Road Test
Courtesy Wash & Vacuum Interior

All of the above comes directly from my service invoice. The bolded entries are the actual services that you will need to perform, as everything else is mostly an inspection of sorts.

I also had the transmission and differential services performed at the same time - about $60-$80 for transmission service and $80-$100 for the differential service.

Do you have the maintenance schedule and warranty guide that should have been included with the other documentation for your vehicle (owner's manual, navigation supplement, lemon law booklet)?
