Default debadging and color fading concerns? (now with pics, and need goo help)

Has anyone debadged an 98-ish GS lately, specifically a black GS? I cannot stand the badges on each side of my trunk and really want to debadge my car but if I have miscolored paint, that would drive me nuts even more.

Lemme know if anyone has debadged lately.

I took the badges off of my burnished gold 98 GS4 recently... the car has 168k miles on it.. after a little buffing, you cant tell at all. Dont be scared If it looks bad, you can always get new emblems!

When I changed my emblems to the black pearl I noticed a difference in the color. I would expect there to be some difference in the paint that is under the emblems and the paint that has been exposed to the elements since 98, regardless of how well you take care of the car

I dont think that our car is a car that looks too nice when debadged. just my 2 cents.

Seriously? Wow, there's nothing I like better than a clean, uncluttered behind.

Of course, I'm not badge-conscious (or I'd be driving a Mercedes)
and the fact that is doesn't indicate which engine I have makes
the car a bit of a sleeper.

I actually can't stand badges... this doesn't look good?

I happened to have a 98 gs400 black that I de-badged a couple days ago. What are the odds?? The paint difference is very mild. Once i removed the emblems, I cleaned off all the residue, used rubbing compound and then finished with a wax. It turned out very nice except for the fact that the word lexus is etched into the paint. I'm wondering if wet sanding can get rid of this because I really don't want to have to repaint the trunk. I'll try to post pictures of it later. Luckily it can only be noticed when up close

to each his own but I love the debadged look. One of the first things that I did when I purchased my car. When i debadged it I just took off the badges used some goof off to take the rest of the residue off and than I washed the car and waxed it. I didnt see a difference in the paint and I do not have the lexus etched into the paint either. But my car is a 00 SMB Gs400.
