Plastic. I was a little concerned but the fitment is perfect and I find myself glacing back at my car one extra time when I walk away and think "Damn! that my car"
I agree with the Lexus Emblem on the hood...tape it there temporarily and take pics from 5-10' away and see if you like it.
Oh, and I didn't realize that there was mesh back there...the angle made the bottom part of the slats look black. In any event I would check out painting that mesh if you can find the your paint code. It's only mesh bro...you can always re-paint with black spray paint and a clearcoat if you don't like it.
You can even use your touch up paint if worst comes to worst. Might take a long time but hit it with 2-3 coats of clearcoat spray paint after and your golden!
